Information for Fontbonne University Students

Fontbonne University, our sister Catholic university in the St. Louis area, will cease operations in Summer 2025. At ΘνΓΓΙη, we share in the grief experienced by so many at this news. We also share in offering support β€” both immediate and long-term β€” to the Fontbonne community, especially its students who will need to finish their degrees at other institutions.

ΘνΓΓΙη Will Accept All Your Fontbonne Transfer Credit

ΘνΓΓΙη has committed to academic policy modifications in support of Fontbonne students who transfer to ΘνΓΓΙη. At an institutional level, ΘνΓΓΙη will make the following accommodations for students enrolled at Fontbonne in the Spring 2024 term and who transfer to ΘνΓΓΙη by the Spring 2026 term:

  • All earned Fontbonne credit will be accepted in transfer to ΘνΓΓΙη. How the transferred credit applies to ΘνΓΓΙη degrees will depend on individual transfer course articulations as well as the applicable ΘνΓΓΙη University Core and academic program requirements.
  • ΘνΓΓΙη will significantly reduce its β€œAcademic Residency Requirement” for Fontbonne undergraduate transfers. For those Fontbonne students who transfer to ΘνΓΓΙη to complete any ΘνΓΓΙη program other than a designated β€œTeach Out Program” (see below), ΘνΓΓΙη will only require a minimum of 12 credits earned at ΘνΓΓΙη for Fontbonne undergraduate students to be eligible to earn their ΘνΓΓΙη bachelor’s degrees; all other ΘνΓΓΙη program and graduation requirements remain in place.
      • Note: Because graduate programs at ΘνΓΓΙη vary significantly in required credits, decisions about the minimum amount of credit that must be completed at ΘνΓΓΙη for Fontbonne transfers will be made on a program-by-program basis.

ΘνΓΓΙη Offers Fontbonne β€œTeach Out” Programs

ΘνΓΓΙη has signed a β€œTeach Out Agreement” with Fontbonne.  That agreement contains additional provisions for current Fontbonne students (in good academic and conduct standing) who seek to complete their studies in select, corresponding ΘνΓΓΙη academic programs:

  • β€œTeach Out” students are guaranteed admission* to ΘνΓΓΙη and do not have to complete full applications.
  • The remaining degree requirements at ΘνΓΓΙη for students in β€œTeach Out” programs are governed by a predetermined program-level articulation agreement addressing all applicable transfer credit.

The following are the currently designated ΘνΓΓΙη β€œTeach Out” programs for current Fontbonne students.  Links to the details for each "Teach Out" program are provided.

ΘνΓΓΙη Will Match Your Fontbonne Tuition

ΘνΓΓΙη guarantees that all students enrolled at Fontbonne in Spring 2024 will, upon initially transferring to ΘνΓΓΙη at any time through Spring 2026, pay no more per term (or per credit) tuition at ΘνΓΓΙη than they paid in their final term of enrollment at Fontbonne (after all applicable financial aid was applied, and excluding any summer term or discounted Fontbonne tuition resulting from the closure announcement).

ΘνΓΓΙη Will Permanently House Your Fontbonne Academic Records/Transcripts

Effective Summer 2025, ΘνΓΓΙη will be the permanent home of, and provider for, all Fontbonne student academic records. ΘνΓΓΙη will house all Fontbonne records necessary to produce, and provide all necessary access to, Fontbonne student academic transcripts in perpetuity. This includes the records necessary to support degree verification and related academic records requests. Please see the β€œAcademic Records” FAQ at this Fontbonne web page for more details.

ΘνΓΓΙη is also now the permanent home for academic records of Cardinal Newman College, which closed in 1985 and for which Fontbonne itself had been the official records custodian.  ΘνΓΓΙη’s Office of the University Registrar has already assumed this responsibility from Fontbonne.
