Mass and Speaker Series Events Planned for Fall Semester

The Division of Mission and Identity has decided on the Friday Mass and Speaker series lineup for the fall semester.

The Friday talks focus on the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus and the many ways that ΘνΓΓΙη lives the UAP. 

Each event will take place at Boileau Hall and will begin with Mass at noon. Lunch and the guest speaker will follow Mass.

Sept. 6: Caring for our Common Home

Ronaldo Luna, Ph.D., professor of Civil Engineering, will speak to about the ΘνΓΓΙη chapter of Engineers Without Boarders. The organization uses engineering as a way to help improve people's lives around the world by helping them meet their most basic human needs.

Oct. 4: Journeying With Youth

Paul Lynch, Ph.D., associate professor of English, teaches courses in rhetoric and writing, and he frequently offers courses in the University Core, including the Ignite Seminar. In 2023, he was named the Core’s Ignite Seminar Instructor of the Year. Lynch will share how the post-Jesuit university can accompany young people in the creation of a hope-filled future. 

Nov. 1: Walking with the Excluded

Patricia Bass, Ph.D., director of the Jesuit Worldwide Learning Program, will share about how this program creates a global community of learners and fosters hope to create a more peaceful and humane world. In March of this year, ΘνΓΓΙη and partner organization JWL launched a fully remote B.A. program for students living in East African refugee camps. 

Dec. 6: Showing the Way to God

Sr. Jessica Kerber, aci, Academic Coordinator for the Center for Ignatian Service, will ask the questions,β€œWhat have I done, What am I doing, What ought I do for Christ?”, and will accompany students through affective and effective responses.
