The mission of the Office of Student Financial Services within the 软妹社 School of Medicine is to assist you in identifying and providing resources to meet the costs associated with medical school.

2024-25 Aid Periods and Disbursement Dates

The dates below represent the loan periods for each level in the 软妹社 School of Medicine. Disbursement dates, as shown, represent the earliest loans may be disbursed. Actual student start date and pace of credit-hour completion may cause a delay to these dates.

All first-time borrowers must complete Federal Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) before loan funds can be disbursed. To ensure timely receipt of your student loan refunds, update your address or sign up for direct deposit via the .

SFS Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board facilitates communication between the Office of Student Financial Services and the student body. It consists of representatives from each medical school class and staff from the Office of Student Financial Services. Contact your class president with comments or suggestions.

Financial Literacy Information

As part of our ongoing effort to help you minimize your overall student loan debt and provide you with tools to help you manage your finances, both now and in the future, we offer sessions with topics that range from student loan repayment to financial planning/wealth management or primary care resources.

  This presentation/webinar provides an overview of the FAFSA (processing and delays), the awarding process and aid disbursement.

• PG-Y I/PG-Y II presentation for housestaff (Summer 2024)
  Presented by Student Financial Services
  This presentation is provided to housestaff/Residents to introduce them to the SFS office. Residents are also receive information and tips to help them navigate federal loan repayment, loan forgiveness programs and processing of such programs.

• 25Y SOM M1 orientation presentation (Fall 2024)

  Students are provided with helpful information on the financial aid process. Information about estimated aid disbursements for fall/spring, SFS-SOM services and how to navigate the are among the other helpful topics and tips.
• Life Cycle: Impact of Student Loans on Future Life Choices  (Fall 2024)

  So often, we wait until nearing graduation to talk about the impact student borrowing will have on our lives. What if we could understand the impact of those borrowing choices while there was still time to make different choices?
• Dollars and Degrees (Fall 2024)

  Here, students will get tools to help them budget while in medical school, manage finances like credit card debt, student loan refunds, investments and ways to avoid the pitfalls of money mismanagement.
• Loan Repayment Plans and Loan Forgiveness Plans (Fall 2024)
  Presented by Sara Edwards with Citizens Bank
  If it seems like the moment you get an understanding of loan repayment, it changes, you are correct. This is especially true for the Income Driven Repayment (IDR) plans. This session will look at these plans, the changes and how they will affect financial and life choices for future debt management.

• Financial Planning for Doctors (Spring 2025)
  Presented by Radden Education Institute
  This session will target options and resources to help you make responsible and informed decisions about your financial future.
• Exit/loan repayment counseling for graduating medical students (April 2025, During Capstone)
  Location to be determined. Sponsored by Student Financial Services.
  This session informs students of their rights and responsibilities as education-loan borrowers. We will review various loan-repayment options to help students make informed decisions for repayment.
• Optional one-on-one FA counseling or loan repayment counseling (Open)
  Please contact the office or go to EAB Navigate via the my软妹社 portal to schedule with your FA counselor. Most appointments will be virtual, however, you may request an in-person meeting. Graduating students, students taking leave of absence or withdrawing must complete the required online exit loan counseling before your meeting.
